ProGrade Digital Gold CFExpress 2.0 Type A 480GB Memory Card Review – Increased Storage With 900MB/s Speeds

We’de like to say it’s been a long week evaluating and reporting on ProGrade Digitals newest 4.0 gear but, truth be told,  it is just nice to have this entire package in-hand to present it as it should be.  Our first report spoke to the PG 20 Pro Thunderbolt 4 Hub where we also looked at both accompanying CFExpress A and B readers, along with ProGrade custom USB 4.0 cables for that Hub.

From there, we reviewed their newest external SSD storage in the form of the PG10.5 USB4 Mini 2TB Portable SSD and PG10 USB4 4TB Portable SSD, and then carried on to both the 1.6TB Iridium 4.0 and 2TB Gold 4.0  CFExpress Type B Cards.  This is the whole package…

Listed specifications include 900MB/s read, 800MB/s write with a sustained write performance of 600MB/s which is well above the VPG 200 minimum speed.  ProGrade also has several software programs to help in keeping your media and storage in shape to include Ingest Pro, Recovery Pro and Refresh Pro.  Refresh Pro is a very minimalist UI that allows one to check the health of their card, as well as sanitizing it without having to leave Windows.

Checking Amazon, we can see availability and pricing listed at $119.99 (120GB), $149.99 (240GB), $209.99 (480GB) and $399.66 (960GB).

For our testing today, we plugged the PGD Gold 2.0 directly into the newest ProGrade Digital PGM 12 CFExpress Type A Single-Slot Mobile Card Reader that we reviewed here. We also checked it out in our PG Dual Slot Type A/SD Card reader and there were no differences in performance between the two.  This reader is ideal for smartphone storage!
