A short time ago, we reviewed an SSD from a mostly unheard of company named Yottamaster. They are a China-based SSD manufacturer and they sent us the ‘Amazon available’ Yottamaster Y7000 Gen4 QLC which we reviewed here. This SSD contained a Maxio MAP1602a ‘Falcon Lite’ 4-channel NVMe SSD controller based on TSMC’s 12nm process which was paired with YMTC 232-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory…4TB of that memory in fact. On our test bench this morning, we have Yottamasters most recent SSD which isn’t even on their website yet, The Yottamaster T7400 Gen4 2TB SSD and the difference between the two is this version uses YMTC TLC NAND flash memory. Same SSD… TLC rather than QLC memory.
The Yottamaster T7400 ‘TitansFlow’ is a PCIe 4.0 (Gen4) x4 (4-lane) form factor 2280 (22mm wide x 80mm long) M.2 SSD that uses the latest NVMe 2.0 SSD protocol. Listed specifications identify performance of 7400MB/s read and 6500MB/s write and this SSD will be available in 512GB, 1,2,and 4TB capacities. Just as a point of order, that 7400MB/s can only be reached using an AMD Test System, whereas we utilize INtel which has a bit lower sequential results, but higher low random speeds.
The SSD is set onto a black PCB (printed circuit board) and contains a graphene heat spreader below its black branding sticker. Included in the packaging are a copper heat shield, silicone thermal pad, screwdriver and a small screw.
The SSD itself contains the Maxio MAP1602a ‘Falcon Lite’ 4-channel NVMe SSD controller and it is running at 2400MT/s. Memory has been upgraded from the Y7000 to YMTC 232-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory and the SSD contains 4-pieces, each with a RAW value of 512GB.
There are a number of characteristics that work together in maintaining cool temperatures for this SSD. It is single-sided and DRAMless. It uses a low-power Maxio controller with a very small 12nm footprint. It includes a graphene heat spreader under the branding sticker, and also throws in the extras such as the copper cover and silicone thermal pad.
The Yottamaster T7400 TitansFlow Gen4 SSD has a rated 500TBW/TB and 5-year limited warranty and we could find the one and two terabyte version on Amazon at the time of this report. This SSD is priced at $72.99 (1TB) and $131.99 for the 2TB we are testing today.
Let’s get to some metrics…
