KIOXIA Shows Off Exceria Pro G2 Gen5 SSD Along with Enterprise Options | Computex 2026 Update

I just can’t wrap my head around why KIOXIA hasn’t brought its consumer SSDs to North America. And, in the same vein, I still don’t fully understand why Micron retired the much-loved Crucial brand. That said, I’m convinced KIOXIA-branded SSDs would do extremely well here, potentially rivaling those top-tier bestsellers we all know.

In the meantime, our small team is bringing you KIOXIA retail SSD news and reviews, today from Computex in Taipei, Taiwan. The upside is our site’s global reach: we can keep everyone informed about what’s available worldwide, even when certain products aren’t sold locally.  Let’s first look at their latest and greatest in enthusiast/gaming SSDs, the Exceria Pro G2.

The KIOXIA Exceria Pro G2 is a Gen 5 form-factor 2280 M.2 SSD that is available in Asia and Europe in 1, 2 and 4TB capacities.  It is capable of performance of 14.9GB/s read and 13.7GB/s write, along with up to 2300K IOPS.  Although KIOXIA won’t elude to the SSD controller used, this SSD is paired with a SMI SM2508 8-channel Gen5 controller along with KIOXIAs own BiCS8 NAND flash memory.  It comes with a 5-year warranty and we should have one in-hand soon enough for review.

This SSD holds a secret and we cannot wait to get one in hand.  It contains ‘Kioxia’s proprietary NVMe 2.0c controller’ and, since one hasn’t yet hit the streets, there is little to no information on this SSD.  We do know this is a DRAMless SSD which uses the host memory buffer in place of a DRAM cache chip and that it will be available ‘in Europe and Asia’ in one and two terabyte capacities.  Performance is a bit lower than the Pro G2 and is listed at 10GB/s read and 9.6GB/s write with up to 1600K IOPS.  This will come with a 5-year limited warranty and we will be receiving one for review on release. Oh… forgot to mention, this SSD will also contain KIOXIA’s own BiCS8 QLC NAND flash memory.

Perhaps the one of KIOXIA’s most successful ventures has always been enterprise and data center SSDs.  Only recently have we had the opportunity to report on one of their latest releases, the KIOXIA CD9P 7.68TB Gen5 Data Center SSD.  This report can be found here and performance hit throughput highs of 14.8GB/s and IOPS highs of 2600K.

Lastly, I’d like to thank my good friend Risteard McSweeney for taking the time to show us around the KIOXIA display and we are looking forward our next of what has become an annual get together.
