ATTO DISK BENCHMARK mSATA SSD DATAPLEX CACHING
The following chart displays, not only the results of all mSATA drives as compared to one another, but also the result of the SSD in comparison to the Hitachi hard drive cached by that SSD. After all, our sole purpose in this report is to find out if we could put a large capacity hard drive into a desktop computer, or notebook, and have it perform to the standard of the SSD alone. The ATTO results provided represent the high sequential transfer speeds reached in each test.
Some interesting observations were observed when we compiled this chart, the first being that ‘SandForce Driven’ cached drives gave consistently higher write performance results than the SSD alone. Very notable, however, is the fact that each and every cached SSD performance at very similar speeds to the SSD alone.
CRYSTAL DISKMARK 4K RANDOM WRITE DISK ACCESS CACHING
Our sole purpose in testing with Crystal DiskMark was to compare the 4k random transfer speeds as this is, in our opinion, the most important method of disk access with respect to visible performance. We have also included the Hitachi HDD result alone in this chart
In each and every case, the Hitachi cached HDD had lower 4k random results than the SSD alone which could only be expected. Very evident, however, is the significant increase in transfer speed when comparing the HDD alone to all cached solutions except that of the Toshiba we tested .
