OCZ Vertex 3 240GB Max IOPS Review – Initial Testing

CRYSTAL DISK INFO

ATTO DISK BENCHMARK VER. 2.46

ATTO Disk Benchmark is perhaps one of the oldest benchmarks going and is definitely the main staple for manufacturer performance specifications.  For our testing, we use a set length of 256mb and test both the read and write performance of various transfer sizes ranging from 0.5 to 8192kb.  Manufacturers prefer this method of testing as it deals with raw data rather than random or mixed which, although more realistic, result with lower performance results.

blankHigh sequential speeds of 557MB/s read and 490MB/s write are not far from the listed specifications of 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write.

CRYSTAL DISK BENCHMARK VER. 3.0 X64

Crystal Disk Benchmark is used to measure read and write performance through sampling of raw (0/1 Fill) or random data. We tested with RAW data in this situation to match as closely as possible to manufacturers specs and our random data testing will be carried out in the next few pages with AS SSD tests.

In comparing this test to that conducted of the Vertex 3 originally, we noticed that all speed results matched closely except for the 4K QD32 result of the Vertex 3 test that was 70MB/s slower at 193MB/s.
