Patriot Showcases Two Gen5 14GB/s SSD Releases and One Is DRAMless – Computex 2025 Flash Update

Our visit to Patriot at Computex in Taiwan this morning resulted in two interesting Patriot soon-to-be releases…and just a bit of familiarity.  First off, Patriot has jumped aboard the Silicon Motion train with their newest PV593 which is a Gen5 SSD based on the SMI SM2508 8-channel NVMe SSD controller.  This controller will provide speeds of 14GB/s read and 13GB/s write with up to 2 million IOPS and it is a relatively cool SSD solution, raising the bar for this Gen of SSDs. If you are wondering what performance will look like for this SSD, check out our Kingston Fury, Predator 9000 and SMI SM2508 Engineering Sample reviews posted here, all of which contain the SM2508 8-channel SSD controller.

Patriots next entry is the DRAMless PV563 which is based on Maxiotek’s latest MAP1806a Gen5 DRAMless SSD controller.  Is this starting to sound familiar? Our earlier post revealed that we actually have BIWINS X570 release with this same controller in-hand and a review will be posted in the next week or so.

This controller is going to find a sweet spot in the SSD world as it will probably be the coolest 14GB/s solution available and ideal for laptops.  Let’s see if we can also get these Patriot SSDs in hand for review!  Just to note, we don’t think this SSD will reach 3.5 million IOPS as noted in the display below.
