USB4 has been out for some time now and, to say the least, it has been a breath of fresh air to storage enthusiasts and media professionals worldwide.  Newest on that USB4 storage block is the Samsung P9 USB4 Portable SSD which is capable of 4GB/s read and 3.8GB/s write speeds. What’s is an even more important metric is that …

It’s rare that we open a report with such high praise for a product right from the first sentence. It’s even rarer when that product happens to be an external SSD. In fact, I’ve only done it once before back in 2018 for the Tekq Rapide. That same TB3 external SSD is still sitting right in front of me today. …

We have in our hot little hands the latest and greatest LaCie Rugged SSD4 and I am personally thinking this SSD may have been made just for me. My true love in life is wildlife photography and I have found myself in just about every weather condition and situations many would never. And yes I have been up a tree …

Portable storage is something so many overlook, at least until it is too late.  It’s importance cannot be overstated as so many have learned valuable lessons much too late.  Myself…my laptop dropped out of my hand on a Military base far too many years ago resulting in the loss of close to a year in weapons establishments surveys, along with …

On our Test Bench this morning is the Samsung Portable SSD (PSSD) T5 EVO and it is a rather unique device.  There is no doubt whatsoever that, at only 3 3/4″ x 1 1/2″ x 5/8″ and weighing 3.5oz, this is the most compact 8TB on the market, but also, this PSSD attains speeds of 460MB/s read and write which …

Given respect to portable storage, Sabrent is without a doubt the team to beat.  They hold no reservations when it comes to speed or capacity in a portable SSD. Not only have we seen this with their speedy 10Gbps, 20Gbps and Thunderbolt 3 drives performing up to 3GB/s but also, they are the only that would dare market a 16TB …

The Samsung Portable T7 Shield is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 SSD that will transfer data at up to 1GB/s with capacities up to 2TB, a decent price point and 3-year warranty.

In September of 2020, we did a review on Crucial’s newly released X6 Portable SSD which had a great price point and decent capacity. Its performance was a bit lower than we had seen in the previous Crucial X8, the former providing current 1GB/s data transfer through USB 3.2 Gen 2 while the newer X6 maxed out at 540MB/s because …

It seems that consumers simply can’t get enough of portable SSDs.  For the most part, they all seem to be pocket sized these days, range anywhere from 512GB to 8TB, and can have speeds from SATA 3 at just above 500MB/s all the way to ThunderBolt 3 which can pull in data as fast as 2.8GB/s.  Price is key with …
