CRYSTAL DISK BENCHMARK VER. 8.0.6 x64
Crystal Disk Benchmark is used to measure read and write performance through sampling of random data which is, for the most part, incompressible. Performance is virtually identical, regardless of data sample so we have included only that using random data samples.
THROUGHPUT
ANVIL STORAGE UTILITIES PROFESSIONAL
Anvil’s Storage Utilities (ASU) are the most complete test bed available for the solid state drive today. The benchmark displays test results for, not only throughput but also, IOPS and Disk Access Times. Not only does it have a preset SSD benchmark, but also, it has included such things as endurance testing and threaded I/O read, write and mixed tests, all of which are very simple to understand and use in our benchmark testing.
AJA VIDEO SYSTEM DISK TEST
The AJA Video Systems Disk Test is relatively new to our testing and tests the transfer speed of video files with different resolutions and Codec.
TxBench is one of our newly discovered benchmarks that we works much the same as Crystal DiskMark, but with several other features. Advanced load benchmarking can be configured, as well as full drive information and data erasing via secure erase, enhanced secure erase, TRIM and overwriting. REPORT SUMMARY AND FINAL THOUGHTS
As a hardware reviewer, one of the most important elements of longevity and success is one’s ability to remain impartial and give each and every product an honest look. This is a tough one and my sole reasoning is the fact that I have had the previous build of the Apricorn ASK3 in hand and in use for just days short of ten years now. I spent years trusting some of my most mission critical police files on this flash drive and to this day it holds my most impoprtant business and personal files with only one other having access should something unexpected occur. ‘If’ I were to have cryptocurrency keys, the ASK3 is the ultimate resource to secure such. That is laying a great deal of trust in a single flash device… some ten years after the fact. As of today, it has a twin for further backup.
There is so much thought built into the ASK3 with respect to security, we are certain we missed a thing or two, which is why we have linked documentation from Apricorn directly. This is an !P68 waterproof device, constructed of aluminum with no access and all interior components further secured by a tamperproof poured epoxy. There is no software involved whatsoever and this device is ‘everything’ compatible, holds a charge, comes in capacities up to 2TB, and is FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated. It has admin and user modes, can be set to read-only for users and one can even set a self-destruct pin. It’s performance is well-above listed specs at over 210MB/s and it comes with a 3-year limited warranty. I will re-iterate… I have been using my older 480GB version for ten years now.
The only hitch with respect to the ASK3 has nothing whatsoever to do with the company, but rather NAND pricing. Checking Amazon, the 2TB ASK3 we have looked at today comes in at just over $900 US. Ouch. But then again, what is your data or crypto security worth to you in today’s world? Editor’s Choice!
