Our Sponsor SMI Shows off SM2504XT Gen5 and SM2324 USB4 SSD Controllers at Computex 2025

Apologies if we did not make the announcement but we have landed!  The SSD Review is on the ground in Taipei, Taiwan, and preparing for Computex 2025.  This is our first return to the event since 2019 and we are proud to provide special recognition to SMI who has sponsored us for this event.  If you would like to meet or have any questions we can answer along the way, please reach out!

But wait… we thought our coverage of SMI might simply be with respect to their latest and greatest SMI SM2508 PCIe 5.0 8-channel NVMe SSD controller which has become so popular as of late.  Check out our reviews here! With speeds of 14GB/s data transfer throughput and up to 2 million IOPS while maintaining a cool overall temperature, this controller has rocked the SSD market in recent weeks.

Just this morning SMI announced their newest low power Gen5 SSD controller that we will be seeing in action first hand, the SM2504XT.  This controller is a Gen5 DRAM-less SSD NVMe 2.0 controller capable of 11.5GB/s read and write speeds and up to 2 million IOPS while maintaining under 5 watts active power.  You know what that means don’t ya? Gen5 SSDs providing laptops with up to 11.5GB/s speeds are going to be common place soon enough!
