This week at Computex ADATA introduced three new SSDs aptly named the Mars 980 SSD line. In common, they are all based on the SMI SM2508 8-channel NVMe SSD controller and all are capable of the expected 14GB/s read and 13GB/s write speeds with up to 2 million IOPS.
All are Gen5 x4 (4-lane) form factor 2280 (22mm wide x 80mm long) SSDs and all have the same rated 2960TBW. The first is the ADATA SSD Mars 980 Pro which comes with aluminum active heatsink fins and fan.
The second is a rather unusual hybrid and is the SSD Mars 980 Storm with active cooling with liquid and a fan combination.
The last is the SSD Mars 980 Blade which has a simple aluminum heatsink.
ADATA is also introducing their newest enterprise SSD sign and I have to wonder what took them so long since they were right here at the beginning of SSD advance. They are calling it the ‘Trusta’ line of SSDs.
At the time of our visit, they were demonstrating their T7P5 enterprise SSD. This SSD is Gen5 x4 (4-lane) and comes in the E1.5 form factor as shown below. It is capable of 13.5GB/s read and 10.4GB/s write and rated at 1DWPD (drive write per day)
It is available in 1.92, 3.84, 7.68 and 15.36TB capacities and its live demonstration as shown here was none less than impressive.
