Samsung 860 Pro SSD Review (4TB) – So Much Storage

CRYSTAL DISK BENCHMARK VER. 5..5.0 X64

Crystal Disk Benchmark is used to measure read and write performance through sampling of random data which is, for the most part, incompressible. Performance is virtually identical, regardless of data sample so we have included only that using random data samples.

Looking at SATA3 SSDs, you are not going to get better than this with 562MB/s read and 533MB/s write data throughput speeds, although the theoretical maximum is 600MB/s.

AS SSD BENCHMARK VER 1.9

The toughest benchmark available for solid state drives is AS SSD as it relies solely on incompressible data samples when testing performance. For the most part, AS SSD tests can be considered the ‘worst case scenario’ in obtaining data transfer speeds and many enthusiasts like AS SSD for their needs. Transfer speeds are displayed on the left with IOPS results on the right.

AS SSD appears very strong and confirms IOPS that are just below 100K read and 90K write, which runs right up there with listed specs.

ANVIL STORAGE UTILITIES PROFESSIONAL

Anvil’s Storage Utilities (ASU) is the most complete test bed available for the solid state drive today. The benchmark displays test results for, not only throughput but also, IOPS and Disk Access Times. Not only does it have a preset SSD benchmark, but also, it has included such things as endurance testing and threaded I/O read, write and mixed tests, all of which are very simple to understand and use in our benchmark testing.

We usually run Anvil as just a confirmation benchmark, but have to concede that this is one of the strongest results for SATA 3 that we have seen from this benchmark.

QUICKBENCH V.4.0

Similar to ATTO, Quickbench is another utility that throws different data sample sizes at the SSD, measuring the data transfer speed.  Typically, our results with Quickbench are much lower than we might see with ATTO.

“Its warranty is five years which demonstrates, not only their confidence in their product but also, their confidence in their latest generation 64-layer 2bit MLC NAND memory.”

850 PRO has 10 years warranty. Nothing impressive.

I still think the MX500 1TB is an insane deal for %98 for people.

Extensive and detailed review as always !
Are you going to leave the Pro in it’s loneliness ? Or is the Evo review in the works ?
