REVIEW ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
The Gold S31 SATA 3 SSD was SK hynix’s first entry into the consumer retail market and it has done extremely well. When I hear people speak of this SSD (which I often do), it is always questioning its ability beside other industry leaders, and I am the first to say it stands right up there holding its own. Highlighting the Gold S31 just has to be the fact that SK hynix’s confidence is shown in a 5-year warranty that other industry leaders have moved away from.
Performance is right at the top of the SATA 3 space with our speeds results of 564MB/s read and 532MB/s write and 97K read IOPS and 82K write IOPS. Pricing is good but we might remind SK hynix that there are so many fighting to get their 1TB SATA 3 samples under the $100 mark. We understand, however, as the quality is there.

Got one as a replacement for an earlier model from the same manufacturer. The first one failed without warning after 2 years. Took me 8 months to get replaced, repeatedly asking SK Hynix what was going wrong. They were always polite, but clearly clueless, and ultimately incompetent.
SK Hynix, never again.
