OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual Mini RAID Data Storage/Backup Review

NRAID SPAN MODE

NRAID Span mode takes the disks and basically aligns them ‘end to end’, creating one large volume for the user to access. We will be testing the performance of this setting compared to RAID 0. In essence the NRAID and the Single Drive modes are very similar, so for our purposes comparing NRAID to RAID 0 will suffice.

ATTO

The results for the spanned drive also closely resemble the speeds that we are experiencing with RAID 1 testing. The drives total out at around 120 MB/s which is to be expected.

HDTACH

The HDTach results mirror the results from the ATTO testing above, with a very close 112MB/s.

imo they should ditch the firewires and replace em with a usb3 interface.

Yea, really! And even a dedicated and completely useless and unnecessary FireWire 400 port??? You can also use a FW800-to-FW400 cable, but why would you use either kind!?? And where are the USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt enclosures? OWC is getting LAME.

Do you have any experience with the other OWC enclosures, for instance the OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual? Was wondering what is the performance difference between their Mercury Elite Pro Dual & Mercury Elite Pro Raid.

    Thx
