Not a massive SSD announcement, but nevertheless worthy of mention, is the fact that SanDisk has elected to rebrand their WD_Black and WD_Blue family of SSDs to their newest Optimus family name as of this morning at CES 2026. The WD_Black 8100 and 850x will now be designated Optimus GxPro with the SN7100 being renamed Optimus GX and WD_Blue 5100 now becoming the Optimus 5100 as shown in their released image here:
None of these SSDs components have changed whatsoever and performance remains identical to what we have seen prior, with the Optimus GxPro 8100 having one of the industries top performance results as shown in our May 2025 report here.
