8K RANDOM READ/WRITE
We precondition our enterprise SSDs using 100% random 8K writes at QD256 for two drive fills. Performance data is recorded every second. We track this data to monitor the enterprise SSDs transition to steady-state and to verify that steady-state conditions are achieved before initiating queue depth testing. Steady-state is established after a full drive fill and the average steady-state 8K random write performance is approximately 243K IOPS.
The full performance average of the Dapustor R6101 in 8K random write is 243K IOPS which we expected to be half of that of 4k as it is moving twice the amount of data. It levels off at QD4 right through to QD4096 and remained dead steady at 233K for most of that run.
The R6101 8K read performance of 1775K IOPS is very impressive and only bettered by that Micron 9550.
8K 70/30
8K 70/30 is representative of a typical database workload and just over 480K average IOPS was attained.
The Dapustor R6101 1-DWPD SSD maintained an average of 347K IOPS throughout QD 128-4096.
REPORT SUMMARY AND FINAL THOUGHTS
The Dapustor Roelsen6 R6101 Gen5 7.68 U.2 SSD completed our testing with mid-range results, but one cannot discount the fact that this SSD did pull off the highest steady state 4K read IOPS we have seen to date at 3472K. In this specific test, the R6101 pulled ahead of Micron 9550, if just by a hair’s length. This of course carried on to the 8K steady state average read IOPS where that Micron 9550 maintained that spot… again by just a hair’s length and leaving the R6101 in second spot.
With this in mind, our opinion is that the R6101 is a very capable SSD, however is bettered by the Memblaze 7A40 and Kingston DC3000ME, at least with respect to 50/50 and 70/30 mixed load testing and 4K/8K write IOPS. The Dapustor R6101 would prove itself to be an excellent choice for read-intensive applications to include e-commerce platforms, medical imaging systems, video-on-demand services, social media platforms, along with big data analytics and other similar services.
