Corsair MP700 Micro Gen5 SSD Review – Could this Be The Worlds Fastest & Most Compact SSD?

PCMARK 10 FULL SYSTEM STORAGE BENCHMARK

PCMark 10 Storage Benchmarks provide an overall score that reflects a drive’s performance, making comparisons between devices straightforward. In addition to the score, the tests report bandwidth and average access times. Each benchmark is based on traces captured during real-world tasks, including booting Windows 10, launching applications like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, working in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and copying both large and small files.

The Corsair MP700 Micro Gen5 SSD placed as expected for a DRAMless SSD in PCMark 10 Full System Drive Benchmark.  This is not a ‘best of’ chart, but rather a chart which places the Corsair MP700 Micro Gen5 SSD amongst its peers.

PCMARK 10 QUICK SYSTEM STORAGE BENCHMARK

The Quick System Drive Benchmark is a subset of the Full test and is more representative of typical daily usage to show what would be expected regarding hybrid SSD performance on a day-to-day basis.

The Corsair MP700 Micvro Gen5 4TB SSD placed well with respect to other DRAMless SSDs trailing right behind.

TRUE DATA TESTING

For our True Data Testing, we simply loaded 15GB video, music, photo and OS files onto the Corsair MP700 Micro DRAMless Gen5 4TB SSD and copied the data to a new folder on that same disk.

The Corsair MP700 Micro did unexpectedly well in true data testing, standing up there with other DRAM-based SSDs.

PASSMARK PERFORMANCE TEST

We thought we might add a few extras in our report today, PassMark Performance Test DiskMark component being a nice addition. This software tests sequential reads and writes, along with IOPS and compares the result with millions of other SSDs worldwide. We might suggest being in the 99th percentile of all SSDs tested was a nice result.

The Corsair MP700 Micro Gen5 SSD provided a decent  return in DiskMark testing.  This is not a ‘best of’ chart, but rather a chart which places the Corsair MP700 Micro Gen5 SSD amongst its peers.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: ENDWALKER BENCHMARK

The Final Fantasy Benchmark is a new tool in our arsenal and geared specifically to the gamer. The software is installed directly on the SSD and the SSD tested, providing and end result of FPS and scene transition times.

It is now only a matter of time until we will see PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs in a 2230 form factor soon! Hopefully, by 2026! Insane out of the world speeds in a small form factor!

Absolutely agree! Looking forward to seeing insane speeds in a very small 2230 form factor very soon!
Who knows, maybe in CES 2026 we will see these SSds already!

There is an error in the MS direct storage section, it says [“increasing” game load times], but I would have thought the author meant to say [“decreasing” game load times].

    Ref:
As our Corsair MP700 Micro 4TB SSD is MS DirectStorage compatible, we thought we might take advantage of the 3DMark DirectStorage Feature Test and see how this SSD fared. MS DirectStorage, in very basic terms, allows direct transfer of data from your SSD storage directly to your GPU, eliminating its historical necessary passage from the SSD through the CPU to RAM, back through the CPU and finally to the GPU VRAM. This is, for the most part at this time, intended on [increasing game load times],reducing CPU overhead and providing more detailed graphics.

I agree, noticed it too. I believe the author meant to say “faster loading times” instead of “increased loading times”.

As an example, Diablo IV (the game I play) support Microsoft DirectStorage, therefore leading to faster loading times. (Although Diablo IV had issues with DirectStorage before, the problem appeared to been fixed now).

      Fixed Thanks.
