Marvell Announces 88NV1160 NVMe DRAM-less SSD Controller — Flash Memory Summit 2016 Update

Marvell, a world-leading producer of semiconductor devices, is announcing the expansion of their solid-state drive (SSD) controller portfolio to include their new 88NV1160 Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) DRAM-less SSD controller.  Marvell’s 88NV1160 DRAM-less SSD controller delivers industry-leading performance per watt, and sequential read speeds of up to 1600MB/s.  The 88NV1160 can be utilized in a single ball grid array (BGA) package SSD, and also as a standalone controller in a tiny 9mm x 10mm package, making it compatible with M.2-2230 and M.2-2242 form factors.  The 88NV1160 is optimized for the next generation of thin computing devices, including productivity tablets and ultrabooks.

    Is this “the PCIe version of the Dean controller”? The SATA version of “Dean” is likewise four channel, so maybe this is PCIe Dean?
