Crucial/Micron/Lexar & The C400 At CES!!!

We are sitting here at Storage Vision 2011 which is taking place at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas and putting together our first “Hot Off the Press” update after a very exciting sit down with representatives of Crucial/Micron.

The topic of interest was the ‘soon to be released’ Crucial/Micron C400 SATA3 SSD.

With an expected release date of March 2011, the drive will be available in capacities ranging from 64GB to a new high of 512GB and pricing will follow with estimated MSRPs of $250 (128), $425 (256) and $825 (512) respectively. The anticipated performance of the c400 is 415MB/s read and 260MB/write which will be a new all time high for the SSD if they can get it out ahead of the pack.

blankAs you can see here, Crucial/Micron are taking away the most enjoyable part of the job by providing the opportunity to see first hand what makes this baby tick with its Intel 25nm NAND and Marvell controller. It wasn’t so long ago that we would be met with the ‘not so pleasant’ response of oems who wanted their PCB layout to remain their secret along with the e-mails from colleagues stating “You can’t do that…can you?”
