KIOXIA Samples Newest UFS Ver 4.1 Embedded Flash Memory Devices for Automotive Applicatiions

It seems we are always speaking of SSDs in one shape or another but we fall short of just how vast this market is.  Single chip designs are never spoken of and , well many may not be aware, but there is a perfect example of this in every cell phone on the planet.  Today, KIOXIA has announced sampling of their latest Universal Flash Storage Ver 4.1 embedded memory device for automotive applications.

This single chip design about the size of a quarter and contains a controller along with   KIOXIA’s latest 8th Gen BiCS 3D NAND flash memory to provide significant speed, flexibility and diagnostics enhancements to automotive digital systems.  It is available in 128, 256, 512GB and 1TB capacities and is designed to fit the needs of infotainment, ADAS3, telematics, domain controllers, and vehicle computers.

In comparison to the previous UFS Gen 3.1, the new UFS 4.1 delivers:

  • Approximately 2.1 times sequential read performance;
  • Approximately 2.5 times sequential write performance;
  • Approximately 2.1 times random read performance; and
  • Approximately 3.7 times random write performance.

“KIOXIA continues to drive innovation in automotive memory with our new UFS 4.1 devices,” said Maitry Dholakia, vice president, Memory Business Unit, KIOXIA America, Inc. “As modern vehicles grow more complex and technologies like AI, multi-gigabit Ethernet and real-time data processing become essential, our UFS 4.1 solutions empower developers to design the next generation of intelligent, responsive vehicles.”
