We have already done a similar post below but I wanted to throw in a few pics of my own from our Toshiba visit which highlighted the Toshiba BG4 SSD which is literally the size of a quarter. With specifications listing performance at 2250MB/s read and 1700MB/s write with 380K read and 190K write IOPS, this SSD is very impressive, considering all components are contained in a single package design.
The BG4 is a step up from the BG3 and uses Toshiba’s latest 96-layer BiCS4 3D TLC NAND flash memory. It will be available in capacities of 128, 256, 512GB and 1TB and is a DRAM-less design which uses the NVMe HMB (host memory buffer) to guarantee endurance and performance.
Set in a M.2 2230 form factor, this SSD is only 30mm in length and it is a client SSD, so don’t be hoping to find it on your store shelves any time soon…
Next up, consider this to be a very rare shot of Toshiba’s newest 96-layer BiCS4 memory.. Out of respect, this shot is of low quality to discourage true geeks from zooming in and seeing anything Toshiba might not want them to…..
