This is a very dated article, 2008 I believe, Todays SSDs have improved drastically with typical read writes as high as 520MB/s transfer speed for a typical form factor.

Pricing is a huge factor I could see here aswell also with size difference comparead. But I do see the point of the heat and boot up times being great. Especially since its not hard to run an external Hard drive to hold your goodies (movies, games, etc.)
