NGD Introduces Newport for Computational Storage – FMS 2018 Update

While we might typically recognize a M.2 2280 form factor SSD to be the latest and greatest in portable storage, NGD brought something new to the game at FMS this week; the NGD Newport.

The NGD Newport platform encompasses three different form factors; the M.2 which we see here capable of an unbelievable 8TB storage, the U.2 at 32TB and the newest EDSFF (‘Ruler’) form factor. This device is a based on a PCIe 3.0 x4 16 channel design and fully compliant with NVMe 1.3.

The 14nm NVMe ASIC is built specifically for computational storage, application execution and targets hyper scale DS.  Both the M.2 and EDSFF form factors are able to provide the best possible power/performance combination without the need for thermal throttling restricting performance, as we see in other solutions today.  Check out NGD Systems here!
