ATTO Disk Benchmark is perhaps one of the oldest benchmarks going and is definitely the main staple for manufacturer performance specifications. ATTO uses RAW or compressible data and, for our benchmarks, we use a set length of 256mb and test both the read and write performance of various transfer sizes ranging from 0.5 to 8192kb. Manufacturers prefer this method of testing as it deals with raw (compressible) data rather than random (includes incompressible data) which, although more realistic, results in lower performance results.
ATTO shows that the MP300 was able to deliver read speeds of up to 1.77GB/s and write speeds of up to 873MB/s. One thing to point out, the small file size performance starts off fairly poor compared to other NVMe SSDs and even SATA SSDs.
Crystal Disk Benchmark is used to measure read and write performance through a sampling of random data which is, for the most part, incompressible. Performance is virtually identical, regardless of data sample so we have included only that using random data samples.
Crystal Disk Mark shows numbers closer to the rated specs, 1,575MB/s read and 920MB/s write. The MP300 reached 36MB/s read and 105MB/s write in the 4K random tests at a queue depth of one.
The toughest benchmark available for solid state drives is AS SSD as it relies solely on incompressible data samples when testing performance. For the most part, AS SSD tests can be considered the ‘worst case scenario’ in obtaining data transfer speeds and many enthusiasts like AS SSD for their needs. In AS SSD, the MP300 scored 2247 points. The sequential performance here is 1.443MB/s in reading and 816MB/s in writing. As well, it reached 196K IOPS read and 166K IOPS write. In 4K random reads at a QD of 1 it delivered 41MB/s and during writes 98MB/s. In the copy benchmark, it copied the ISO at 1041MB/s, the program at 474MB/s and the game at 855MB/s.
ANVIL STORAGE UTILITIES PROFESSIONAL
Anvil’s Storage Utilities (ASU) is the most complete test bed available for the solid state drive today. The benchmark displays test results for, not only throughput but also, IOPS and Disk Access Times. Not only does it have a preset SSD benchmark, but also, it has included such things as endurance testing and threaded I/O read, write and mixed tests, all of which are very simple to understand and use in our benchmark testing.
In our last synthetic test, Anvil, the MP300 scored 7,294 points. It hit 1,350MB/s read and 851MB/s write under the sequential workloads. At a queue depth of one, 4K random performance is similar to what we have seen thus far. And, during multi-threaded workloads, the MP300 was able to deliver up to 101k IOPS read and 153K IOPS write at a queue depth of 16.
