Moving to SSD may initially seem a great move by Sony but if the superslim can't be upgraded with o.t.s. SSD of greater capacity, this would punish Sony's customers familiar with o.t.s. HDD replacement of the older models and end up biting them. If Sony are indeed using custom SSD modules and this is not made very clear at the point of sale, consider it just another instance of a Sony foot-shot where they further damage their own brand :(

In fact, the more i ponder the superslim, the more confused i become. Why Sony did not also upgrade to 802.11n and USB3 is puzzling. Even more so when one considers Sony also failed to add some rear USB3 ports but they provide an external HDD option for the 12G superslim!

So, it seems we still have a slow wireless standard, slow usb standard on the upgraded units with what will end up as permanent ugly front cabling for the permanent attachment of an external HDD and the PlayTV addon while resulting in no free USB ports for casual device attachment. Their logic for the 12G unit seems beyond reasoning !

So will it benefit the SSD world? probably. Will it endear customers to Sony products, probably not!

I'm sure they'll have a built in monkey wrench to prevent folk from adding their own ssd or upgrading the stock one. I'm wondering if it'll be a sata2 or 3 drive.
