they are saying the SSD is capable of 4.8 GB/s throughput. SAS would then be an option, since it offers 12 Gbps, twice that of SATA-III at 6 Gbps. 4 ports @ 12 Gbps = 48 Gbps or 4.8 GB/s since SAS offers port aggregation among other features, including networking. SAS is enterprise level storage, mostly RAID and other server equipment. SATA is the primary standard for consumer level storage. hth

honestly i’m wondering what’s been happening with the bandwidth from all the fibre optics…

In reply to The Muss. SAS is Serial attached SCSI, SATA is Serial ATA. just like SCSI and ATA/IDE weren't interoperable, neither are SAS and SATA. they are two different standards. it's like trying to understand Chinese when all you speak is French.

In reply to Josh Zale. I know. but sata 3 is called 6gbps. every time sata number rises its speed doubles. So should this be sata 4=12gbps
