REVIEWED! SuperTalent UltraDrive MX 480GB SSD Review – Crystal, ATTO & HDTach Benchmarks

3. CRYSTAL DISK MARK VER. 3.0 X64

Traditionally, the JMicron series of controllers have not been the best at demonstrating those all important 4kb random write scores. This is the second time in recent weeks we have looked at the newer release of the JMF 616 where they are showing much better results. For those not familiar with the importance of this specific measurement of disk access, it is the most commonly used by the average user and the most important method which results in the visible upgrade in your system when migrating from a hard drive.

A quick reference to our article entitled ‘The SSD Manufacturers Bluff‘ in our Buyers Guide will be a real eye opener for some and an extremely valuable tool to any considering a SSD purchase in the near future.

Examination of the results of these tests display that the reads speeds of the Super Talent UltraDrive are typically resulting at 230MB/s with writes at 170-190MB/s which are in the same ballpark as their advertised 250/180MB/s read and write. We are also seeing a great graph line with the HDTach result indicating great stability with the system and seeing that random access or seek times are typically .2ms with this drive. Quite frankly, this drive is doing a great job at impressing us thusfar.
