OCZ OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SATA 3 SSD Review – Initial Benchmarks

CRYSTAL DISKINFO VER 3.10.0

ATTO DISK BENCHMARK VER.2.46

blankAs we can see with ATTO results of 552MB/s read and 500MB/s write for high sequential disk transfer performance, specifications are pretty much bang on the money.  ATTO is the best program for testing if one is trying to confirm that their new SSD is in line with manufacturers specifications.

CRYSTAL DISKMARK VER.3.0.1 X64 (0Fill)

blankThis benchmark is where we start to realize how truly special this drive is as it provides us with transfer speeds for 4kb random access.  This method of access is the most important for the user to understand as it is responsible for the most visible performance improvement one will see and is in use in over 50% of typical user activity.

Typically, one might see 4kb random results of 40-60MB/s and we have never seen anything come close to 100MB/s previously, until today. This will play a major role in Vantage testing as we compare the Vertex 3 to SSDs of, not only SATA 2 and SATA 3 configurations but also, RAID 0 setups with 4 SATA 3 SSDs.

The 4k QD32 (que depth) of 335MB/s is also another such result that we have never seen before.
