BENCHMARK PROTOCOL AND THE TEST BENCH
In testing, our main objective is to obtain results as pure and as accurate as possible and we want to ensure that no anomalies slip through. Simply put, we want to provide you with the absolute best results the tested hardware can provide. Repetition in testing is standard and, if necessary, we may conduct specific tests in Windows 7 ‘safe mode’ to ensure the OS has little to no influence on the end result.
In order to validate and confirm our findings, testing is supported by industry accepted benchmark programs. All results are displayed through capture of the actual benchmark for better understanding of the testing process by the reader.
SOFTWARE AND BENCHMARK COMPOSITION
For todays testing, we will be using ATTO Disk Benchmark, Crystal DiskMark, Anvil Storage Utilities, PCMark Vantage and we are even going to do some comparative testing in start times. In order to assist, we have supplied links in the titles of some of our favorite analysis software to encourage testing of your own as well.
On the following pages, the test format will simply compare the original HDD score performance to that of the same HDD when cached with the Crucial Adrenaline. In the next few tests below, however, we have tested the Crucial Adrenaline without the NVELO Dataplex installed in order to give you an idea how this SSD would function if it were to be used as an SSD and not HDD caching solution.
The results of ATTO Disk Benchmark are very close to listed specifications and we see that the read result of 554MB/s brings us well into the SATA 3 zone.
Many may think that the write performance of 114MB/s might seem a bit low but it falls in line with the performance of an M4 of this capacity. The purpose of the Adenaline is to boost the start time and typical user experience significantly.
