Building an ASRock X299 Fatal1ty Test Bench with the i9-7900x

CORSAIR GLAIVE RGB ALUMINUM GAMING MOUSE

The Glaive RGB is a brand new design from Corsair with a very comfortable contoured shape, a native 16000 DPI optical sensor and 1 dpi resolution steps for incredible accuracy and performance.  Add to this onboard storage for lighting effects, macros   and DPI settings.

My favorite feature on the Glaive RGB is the interchangeable thumb grips as seen here.  The Corsair Gaming Glaive RGB mouse is available at Amazon for  $59.

CORSAIR GAMING MM800C POLARIS RGB LED MOUSE PAD

To remain in the RGB theme, Corsair has introduced the Gaming MM800C RGB LED Mouse Pad which has configurable lighting around the outside of the pad itself.  The MM800C plugs into your system via USB and has a mouse pass-through to plug your mouse into the pad itself.

Cue 2

It is powered by Corsair CUE 2 which provides for all Corsair RGB peripherals (Strafe RGB Keyboard/Claive RGB Mouse/MM800C Mouse Pad) to be synchronized with literally millions of color variants and several color schemes.  The CUE 2 software is free from Corsair and the MM800C is available from Amazon for $59

SYSTEM STORAGE

For the interim, we set this system up with the HGST Ultrastar SN150 1.6TB NVMe SSD but the possibilities are wide open with a Kingston DCP1000 on hand, a number of M.2 SSDs and a few other drives on hand.  Most likely, our first attempts will be to successfully set up a 3 x M.2 RAID with both our Samsung 960 Pro and Toshiba RD400 M.2 SSDs on hand.  Stay tuned for a number of articles highlighting this system in the near future.

PCMARK 8

We wanted to do just a bit more testing and decided to enlist the assistance of Futuremark once again and ran PCMark 8 using the Creative test configuration for mid to high range systems.  This test took 42 minutes and we were very impressed with the result, placing our new Test Bench above 99% of all other systems tested.

Digging through the program a bit closer, we were also able to extrapolate results of individual segments of this test regimen:

Needless to say, finishing off our report with this test result was a great way to confirm  that our system truly was the most powerful build we have put together to date.  A perfect fit for the office…. Stay tuned for some amazing storage reports within the next few weeks, including some 3 x M.2 RAID testing on the motherboard, and also in the newest Highpoint SSD7101 PCIe 3.0×16 NVMe adapter!
