I have an ASUS Strix Z270G Gaming I just built. I installed a 960 EVO 1TB drive in the M2 slot on the top slot. I was wanting to add some 850 EVO drives and am wondering if those 2 new drives can be put in a raid on install ?

    Installed Win 10 64 PRO

In looking through the user manual for this board, it appears that you would be able to create a RAID setup of the 850 EVO drives. A couple of caveats though -- the 960EVO 1TB would have to be used as a storage drive, and remain in the M.2 slot. You would have to install the operating system on the RAID array of 850EVOs, which requires changing the storage controller in your BIOS from AHCI mode to RAID mode. The only problem is that any remaining unused SATA ports would also be in RAID mode, and no additional drives that are not part of the RAID array can be added to the other SATA ports.
