Win a Plextor M6e PCIe SSD For Your PC!

The SSD Review and Plextor are teaming up to give away one of their newest M6e PCIe SSDs to one lucky reader!  That’s right, break that SATA barrier in any system that has an open PCIe slot.

Plextor M6e PCIe M.2 SSD With Adapter

If you are new to our little corner of the web, check out our recent report on the Plextor M6e where we tested it at speeds above 770MB/s solo and, just for the fun of it, we pulled off some RAID testing where two of these SSDs reached an astounding 1.3GB/s.  Now, just to be completely transparent, we haven’t received confirmation on M6e size yet but the winner will be receiving a brand new Plextor M6e PCIe card as you see above, one that has the full 5 year warranty included.

    Awesome. This is really great!

  15. blank

This product seems geared toward gamers as I don’t see how you could load an OS onto it. Still, I’d love to win it!

    • blank

It’s not just gamers, though they would of course get a benefit when it came to loading screens and so on. If you use any conversion or rendering software then this would be great for the read and output files.

For example, using Claro Read to convert a text PDF into audio might save you a couple of seconds, but if you do that for your entire course text for every module in a degree the time saved would mean more study time for someone with a sight impairment or dyslexia.

    • blank

It is a fully bootable card which permits OS loading.

  16. blank

    Good Luck everyone {{ NOT ENTERED, UK citizen }}

  39. blank

wow, very nice giveaway, all done , good luck for all

  40. blank

Awesome! I didnt even know that PCIe SSDs existed, let alone that they were faster than SATA. I would love this to boot my OS off of!

  41. blank
    Zachariah Ellingson

    awesome!

  42. blank

quite stoked that they’ve gone the PCIe route with this, though I read a review that mentioned issues with garbage collection that eroded performance periodically. Any observations on this from your side, Les? We use Accelsiors in a variety of applications, and I’m always happy to see a variety of [vendor] choices made available when effective workarounds (like bypassing SATA controller limitations) are presented.

    • blank

We havent experienced any GC issues or drop in performance but we will update this reply should anything be observed.

      • blank

i’ll stay tuned for updates – what’s your take on the Win/Linux path from here, given that Apple chose PCIe Flash as the exclusive internal strage option for 2013 Mac Pro? …and will we see implementations wider than 4-lane for flash boards soon?

  43. blank

Thanks for putting this on Les!

  44. blank

    Liked, commented, entered, thank you’d!

  45. blank

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  47. blank

Throwing in my name, and thanks

  48. blank

Thanks for having a lot of SSD information in one place and for the reviews, guides, and giveaways.

  49. blank

Nice! One question, the SSD itself looks identical to the ones in the 2013 model Macbook Airs. I happen to have a spare 128 GB module. Would that work in this card? Does Plextor sell just the card?

  50. blank

    Awesome SSD FTW!

  51. blank
    Andreas Niggemann

    Very cool !!

i’m saving to buy one of these babies

  54. blank

I’ve never used a PCIe SSE or any PCIe device other than my video card. I’m curious as to how it compares with standard SATA SSDs.

  55. blank

Looks like I may get a chance to try out this newer technology prior to kicking the bucket…

  56. blank

    This is interesting.

  57. blank

I’m looking to speed up my hard drive. I’m glad I waited. This looks good.

never tried a PCIe SSD before…

  66. blank

It’s awesome that SSD has moved to PCIe for private sector applications!

  67. blank

Speeds and specs appear very good for this SSD. Nice that it’s PCIx to help that.

  68. blank

read and write speeds look good, how does it compare to the M6M mSATA SSD?

  69. blank

I’d love to win this! Thanks for the giveaway!

  70. blank

  74. blank

    Would love to have that.

  75. blank

Hello out there !! nice contest… but I wanna ask is the speed and the amount of data on the PCI-e bus slowing down the graphic card…? or do i see ghosts

  76. blank
    Darrin Schonefeld

I can’t wait to try this in my system

  77. blank

Set me free with an SSD! =) Thanks folks and Plextor for the Giveaway.

  90. blank

Awesome SSD, good job on the giveaway Les 🙂

  91. blank

The feature looks nice, but it would be nice if Plextor has any similar that can be used to upgrade SSD for my Asus tablet Slate EP121.

  92. blank

Very nice! Thanks for the chance.

  93. blank

This looks like a pretty impressive SSD, though truth be told I’m still pretty new to SSD’s (still using a normal SATA drive currently). Thanks for the giveaway as well and keep up the good work!

  94. blank

I am excited to see Plextor with a PCIe SSD!!!

  100. blank

Thanks for the great contest, hope I win! 🙂

  101. blank

We have 2 very high end versions of these in a file server. The speed boost is incredible, even if they cost ~$12,000. This “home version” would be awesome in my gaming PC!

  102. blank

    Very nice contest … Thanks.

  103. blank

    Looking forward to using this!

  104. blank

    In it to win it.

  105. blank

This is a killer SSD. Curious, will it work in M.2 slots for laptops as well?

    • blank

Not unless the laptop is at least M.2 PCIe X2 native…

It will not work in SATA M.2 slots.

      • blank

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible for a slot to be compatible with both types or is it strictly SATA or PCI-E? I thought they made this form factor to increase compatibility, not cause confusion.

      • blank

We are still in the infancy of M.2. It is possible to have a system capable of both native PCIe SSDs and SATA SSDs but we have not seen that just yet. If you review our extensive M.2 coverage, you will see companies like Sony actually distributed both, with marketing only reflecting that of the more powerful native PCIe M.2.
We have yet to have a new Samsung ultra in our hands but rumor has it that it can switch.

  106. blank

What a sweet, for a sweet PC tooth. I already have a Plextor 256 SSD, and I thought it was fast; but, this PCIe card promises to be even faster.

  107. blank

A PCIe SSD is definitely going to be my next upgrade!

  108. blank

I have one SSD and have been looking to add a second bigger one. This looks like a great choice.

  109. blank

Nice lookin’ SSD. Would look better in my PC!

  112. blank

    thanks for the giveaway.

  113. blank

So I must be active in social media in order to enter this contest!??
For the record, I never endorse any social media comm. let along FB, Twitter etc. So I’m officially out of the sweepstakes?
So unfair. When holding a sweepstakes like this, having an FB account should NOT be a prerequisite. This one here is clearly biased.

  114. blank

    Crazy fast! Thank you guys!

    Done steps

  143. blank

    woo, sweet contest thanks!

  144. blank

    nice GA…count me in!

  145. blank

It’d just be nice to have another way to have fast and, hopefully, large amounts of storage. I can see speed as something nice for an end user and necessary for a server environment, but personally, it just feels like a way to raise the price. I don’t do anything majorly stressful other than gaming, so perhaps that’s why.

  146. blank

    Sweet prize!

  147. blank

    Very nice drive! Good Luck!

  148. blank

That is so cool. It would be great to have one in my PC.

  151. blank

This would be a great upgrade for my gaming PC. Thanks Plextor and TSR!

  152. blank

I would love to win one of these!

  153. blank

I’m in for the PCIE SSD. I’m ready to use these in our servers.

  154. blank
