Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., world-leading experts in advanced memory devices for over 30 years, is announcing worldwide availability of its 750 EVO series of solid-state drives (SSDs).  The 750 EVO series are offered in capacity points of 120GB, 250GB and an all new 500GB version.  The 750 EVO series are ideal for PC builders and mainstream users seeking to migrate from either a hard disk drive (HDD) or a slower-performing entry-level SSD to a more reliable and faster storage device for their everyday computing needs.

750 EVO ANGLEDThe 750 EVO series continues Samsung’s heritage of providing cutting-edge memory solutions, and features Samsung’s proven NAND flash technology as well as their proprietary TurboWrite feature, Dynamic Thermal Guard protection, and RAPID mode.  Featuring Samsung’s own powerful MGX controller, the 750 EVO series of SSDs attain sequential read speeds of up to 540 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 520 MB/s (with TurboWrite activated).

750 evo PACKAGE FRONTAccording to Un-Soo Kim, Samsung Electronics’ Senior Vice President of Branded Product Marketing, Memory Business, “Samsung is committed to constantly evolving and providing high-quality memory solutions that fit general consumer needs.  We have seen high consumer demand for our 750 EVO in the 120GB and 250GB capacities, which have been available in select emerging markets since last year.  We want to meet the consumers’ expectation who seek a reliable memory solution to extend the longevity of their existing computers in an easy and effective way.  By adding the 500GB version to the current 750 EVO line-up and supplying the drives to more regions, consumers who need high-data consumption will be better served.”

Unlike an HDD, the 750 EVO SSD has no moving parts to wear or tear, meaning much less chance for lost or corrupted data.

750 EVO PACKAGE REARThe new 750 EVO 500GB SSD is backed by Samsung’s three-year limited warranty (or 100 terabytes written (TBW)) in more than 50 countries and areas, including the USA, Europe, China, Korea and other regions beginning in early June.  The 750 EVO 500GB will carry an MSRP of $149.99 (29¢ / GB!).  You can view the press release in its entirety here.

Give them a little time. If the demand is there they will likely add the larger capacities. As the press release alludes to, the high demand for the lower capacity models convinced them to offer the 500GB. The same scenario may very well play out for even larger capacity versions.

Would any of you be interested in the Samsung Semiconductor Enterprise version of the EVO which is more robust and cheaper (than the Samsung Electronics consumer division)?
