Western Digital / HGST Announces Acquisition of Enterprise All-Flash System Developer Skyera

HGST (formerly Hitachi Global Storage Technologies), a division of Western Digital Corp., is announcing that it has completed an all-cash acquisition of Skyera, a leading developer of all-flash enterprise storage systems for data centers and scale-out cloud applications. Skyera will be fully integrated into HGST, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of WD. The Skyera acquisition enhances HGST’s existing portfolio and capabilities in solid-state storage, and gives them the ability to take advantage of the rapidly growing enterprise flash storage market. The acquisition also provides HGST with intellectual property and engineering talent that further strengthens their resources and technical expertise.
