The SSD Review Computex Taipei Update: Kingston Releases HyperX SSD IN Blowout “WOW” Fashion!

Brace yourself for this SSD release because we cannot simply give you the meat without the gravy on this one.  While at CES, we were lucky enough to spend time with Kingston behind the scenes and at their “WOW” event for release of their new product line to include the HyperX SSD.

Set in the Bellevita Taipei, this release party included all the fixings to include Taiwans top models who were more than happy to introduce such Kingston products as the new ‘SandForce Driven’ HyperX SSD as well as a Mac product called the ‘Wi-Drive’.

As a bit of a background, it is said that the Bellevita was envisioned through a young womans desire to start her own coffee shop to which her father followed suit from there.

KINGSTON HYPERX SSD

Kingstons HyperX SSD release has been some time in the making as we first mentioned it at CES in January and right from its exterior appearance, this may be something special.  It is based on SandForces SF-2281 SATA 3 processor and capable of 525MB/s read and 480MB/s write performance with 60,000 IOPS at 4k random.  It is available in 120 and 240GB sizes, has a 3 year warranty as well as free technical support.

We were able to grab quick ATTO and Crystal Diskmark performance results from the 120GB HyperX which was displayed inside the Lenovo G470S and have to give Kingston credit as this system was not set up for benchmarks whatsoever, but rather, they were displaying the boot time which shocked the heck out of us at about 7-8 seconds to complete OS.  Heres what we got:

Prices have yet to be confirmed on the new HyperX SSD line, however, David Leong of Kingston expressed that Kingston seeks to make this a very competitive entry into the SATA 3 arena which will also include a migration kit as well as copy of Acronis for simple migration to the HyperX.

THE KINGSON WI-DRIVE

For those Mac lovers, this entry by Kingston is a very interesting product which we truly never expected.  The Kingston Wi-Drive is a portable storage device, available in 16 and 32GB capacities, which can be accessed wirelessly from your Mac.

What we found particularly genuine about this product was that it can be accessed by up to three separate Mac products simultaneously which opens up doors, not only in consumer use, but that of business as well.

THE KINGSTON ATMOSPHERE

Last but not least, lets leave you with a bit of what its like being at such an event.  The Beate te Ristorante Italiano hosted the release and, well, this is a glimps of what it was like trying to get near the Catwalk.

blankAll in all, our appreciation to Kingson for the invite as it definitely was one of our highlights of our first time in Taipei, Taiwan.  Here are some parting shots for those diehards that have to get every angle of Kingstons new product line.
