Mushkin Displays New Scorpion Deluxe PCIe SSD – Flash Memory Summit 2013 Update

While visiting Avant early this morning at Flash Memory Summit, our friend Brian Flood showed off Mushkin’s new Scorpion Deluxe PCIe SSD.  Not only is the Scorpion Deluxe capable of 2.1GB/s read and 1.9GB/s write performance with over 100,000 IOPS but also, this form factor can be configured in as high as a 2TB form factor. Here is a shot of the PCB with internals:

If you look close, you will notice 4 blade style ‘LSI SandForce Driven’ SSDs equipped with Toshiba toggle mode NAND flash memory, along with SF-2281 SATA 3 controllers.  The end product is connected via a PCIe 2×8 interface and pricing hasn’t been confirmed as of yet for the Scorpion Deluxe.

Very nice indeed. Have there been any sightings of SandForce’s next gen controller with 1.8GB/s R/W speeds?

There is no mention of Griffin whatsoever and I fear I scared them off with my discovery at Computex (pun intended). I will be getting out an article on the amazing new Durawrite that will be part of the next gen product, however, where one can actually get as much as 3 times the capacity from a SSD.

lets hope the price isn’t high as the speed.
