LSI’s Latest Technology Key Partners Take Part in AIS – LSI AIS 2013 Update

LSI Accelerating Innovation Summit 2013 is underway in San Jose, California. After keynote speakers Abhi Talwalkar (President and CEO of LSI) and Rob Crooke, (Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the NVM Solutions Group at Intel) opened with an overview of their vision of the unfolding DataCentric Era, we headed off to see some of LSI’s latest solutions as displayed by key early adopters Cisco, Toshiba, Avant, ADATA, Intel, and SuperMicro.

Shown here, Cisco has already developed their own packaging for their version of LSI’s UCS Nytro MegaRAID 200GB controller card.

Toshiba had several newer products on display, including a 2.5″ form factor SATA 6Gb/s SSD that features both Toshiba’s A19nm MLC NAND and the new LSI SandForce SF3-700 controller, as well as a PCIe Gen 2X4 SSD featuring the SF3700.  Toshiba also had on display their latest 19nm eMLC enterprise-grade NAND.

Avant Technology is a predominantly OEM supplier that is also developing components utilizing the SandForce SF3700 controller.  Their display included a half-height, half-length (HHHL) PCIe SSD, along with an M.2 PCIe/SATA SSD.

SanDisk was also on hand at the LSI AIS and we had hoped, like Toshiba, that we might see the new SF3700 surrounded by their newest NAND offerings.  Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, however, they did display their newest SMART acquisitions, to include offerings such as the Optimus and Cloudspeed. Series, both previously reviewed in detail here at TSSDR.

And of course LSI dominated the displays, including showing their latest half-height, half-length PCIe Gen 2X4 SSD, this one featuring Micron NAND, and a MegaRAID 9361-8i 12Gb/s SAS/SATA RAID controller card.
