KingMax Displays Client Pro SMU22 1TB SSD – Computex 2012 Update

KingMax didn’t waste any time showing off their new 1TB SSD at Computex 2012 this year.

One of the first of its kind, the SMU22 is SATA 2 and available in 64, 128, 256, 512 and 1TB capacities.  With the 1TB version capable of 250MB/s read and 200MB/s write transfer speeds, a  Silicon Motion SMI2250 controller is  at the heart if the SMU22 and we havent tested this controller just yet.  As for price, this isn’t available in North America but we did confirm that the price came in at just under $3000.  Yikes!

Did we mention that there were armed guards on either side of the display just outside of the shot?

doesnt really make sense having a 1 TB SSD priced at 3 grand and its only SATAII speed where as the OCZ octane 1 TB is SATAIII and its around 2.4k

It is not a Jmicron controller. It’s a SMI2250 of Silicon Motion, as you can see in the specsheet of the drive.
But that’s a crappy controller. If you search for testresults you get some of other drives with this controller. Even worth than Jmicron or Phison controller.
