ADATA Showcases NVMe SSD Performance, Variation & a Gamers SSD – Computex 2017 Update

ADATA has never been short of SSD variation at any tech events we have covered in recent years, consistently displaying drives with a variation of controllers, memory, as well as performance designed for any number of tasks.  This year at CES was no different.  Let’s jump in with their very own Gamers SSD right off:

GAMMIX S10 GAMING SSD

ADATA Gammix S10

Based on ADATA’ Gammix Gamer family of hardware the new Gammix S10 is PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe gaming SSD that is expected to provide initial performance of 1800MB/s read and 850MB/s write and it is based on the SMI 2260 series NVMe controller and Microns Gen 1 3D TLC NAND flash memory.  Popularity will no doubt drive what we see performance rise in this SSD, with initial capacities of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB planned.

ADATA Gammix S10

IM2P33E8 ENTERPRISE SSD

Pushing straight through to the most powerful SSD of the bunch, the ADATA IM2P33E8 is an enterprise level NVMe SSD based on SMI’s newest 8 channel SM2262 Gen 3 X 4 controller, a controller not even on SMI’ website just yet.

Displaying performance above 3GB/s, this SSD uses Micron’ newest 3D TLC memory and will be available in capacities up to 1.92TB.

SX9000NP AND SX8000NP NVME SSDS

As we start moving along with ADATA’s mainstream line, we start seeing performance variations based on both controller and NAND flash memory.

While the SX9000 uses the Marvell Eldora 88SS1093 controller with 2D Toggle mode NAND flash memory, the SX8000 uses the SMI SM2260 NVMe controller with Micron Gen1 3D TLC memory.

While the SX8000 is available in capacities up to 2TB, the SX9000 has far superior performance, including low 4k write performance at 200MB/s.

While both SSDs support LDPCC ECC engine, only the SX8000 supports Data Shaping and RAID engine.
