    Mail Server SSD suggestions

    Hello,

Have an issue that I need some advice on. We have a server running on a single 500GB SataIII drive and its used for a mailing list server. The problem we have is the amount of emails being delivered is causing a lot of stress on the single SATA drive which is in turn driving up the load and is not able to handle the amount of mail. We are looking to switch to a 60-64GB SSD Drive. Our main concern is on the write side of the drive, not so much on read. I have been looking at drives endlessly and am not sure which is best to go with as I see drives with different IOPS, some with fast read times but slow write times and vice versa. Any ideas which drive would be best for us? Thanks in advance!

does this server ever shut down? If not perhaps a RamDrive would be a better choice. Fastest of any system, and no issues with read/writes. You would probably be wise to schedule some backups to a HDD or something. Hopefully some of the folks here who are more versed in this will chime in and let you know if this is the correct direction.

Pick an SSD with the highest IOPS and stick with Crucial, Samsung, or Intel. And, obviously, BACKUP!
